frequently asked questions

Do I need to bring my own equipment?
Not at all! I can provide you with hooks to use during the class and yarn to go away with. If you'd like to take hooks home, I offer starter kits which contain hooks, yarn and stitch markers. These can be pre-purchased before your class and I will bring them along for you to collect at the start.
Alternatively, if you have your own equipment or project you'd prefer to bring them please do! You can continue your project by yourself or I can assist with a part of it which you might be struggling with.

Do I need to have any experience?
Nope! I can show you how to hold your hook and yarn, create your first slipknot and chain right up to more complex stitches! If you do have experience though, just let me know what you'd like to learn and I'll start you from there. Everyone is welcome!

Do I need to commit to a certain class or a timeframe?
Absolutely not. Many of my attendees work shifts or have other commitments which means they can't attend the same class every week or even one class a week. The booking tool allows you to choose which class you would like to attend when it suits you. Even the five class vouchers are made to allow you to pick and choose classes to fit around your schedule and if you miss a week, a month or more, don't worry about it - you can pick up where you left off when you return.

What can I expect from my first class?
I'll start by determining your experience and build on that. If you are a complete beginner then we will start with the very basics - creating a slipknot, tension and chaining. It is not uncommon for beginners to chain for their entire class until they are confident with how they hold their yarn and hook. If you manage to get to grips with tension before the end of class then I'll show you the first stitch of crochet - single crochet. If you are one of the lucky people who manage to master this in the first class then I'll show you how to change colour.

How much does it cost?
Classes range from £6.50 to £8.00, depending on your requirements.
I also have a variety of beginner offers such as a five-class voucher for £35 or a starter kit including hooks, yarn and stitch markers for £15. These can both be purchased for £45, saving you a further £5!

Do you offer children's classes?
Whilst I don't offer classes specifically for children, I do have many children attend my regular classes. When booking, there is a free ticket option called "Don't Mind Me" which the accompanying adult must select to account for them in the class numbers.
